Coronavirus Symptoms: 3 common + 6 new Symptoms by CDC

Primarily there are three Symptoms of coronavirus:

  • Fever.
  • cough.
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.

People with these symptoms or combination of these symptoms may have COVID-19 
These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the Virus.

Till 26th April 2020, both WHO and CDC listed these Three Symptoms of Coronavirus. But From 27th April 2020 CDC updated a list of symptoms and add 6 new Symptoms in this list.

The new Symptoms are :

  • Chills.
  • Repeated shaking with chills.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Headache.
  • Sore throat.
  • New loss of taste or smell.

Updated List of All 9 Symptoms by CDC:

  • Fever.
  • Cough.
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
  •  Chills.
  • Repeated shaking with chills.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Headache.
  • Sore throat.
  • New loss of taste or smell.

CDC also added that the list is not all-inclusive which means there may be some other symptoms of coronavirus in the world/. So, a list of Symptoms may be updated with further progress.

List of Symptoms According to WHO

Common symptoms include:

  • Fever.
  • Tiredness.
  • Dry Cough.
Other symptoms include:
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Aches and pain.
  • Sore Throat.
  • Few people will report diarrhoea, nausea, or a runny nose.

According to a study of nearly 56,000 laboratory-confirmed cases cited in the WHO report, the most common symptoms are:-

  • Fever(88%).
  • Dry Cough(68%).
  • Fatigue(38%).
  • Coughing up Sputum/mucus production(33%).
  • Shortness of breath(19%).
  • Joint or muscle pain(15%).
  • Sore throat(14%).
  • Headache(14%).
  • Chills(11%).
  • Nausea or vomiting(5%).
  • Nasal Congestion(5%).
  • Diarrhoea (3%).
  • Coughing up blood(1%). 
  • Eye Discharge(1%).


Symptoms Considered by the Ministry of Health, India


The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are
  • Fever.
  • Tiredness.
  • Dry Cough.
Some People may also experience
  • Aches and pains.
  • Nasal congestion.
  • Runny nose.
  • Sore throat.
  • Diarrhea.
